Donald in Mathmagic Land

Since I just spent my entire day (since 8am!) listening to final exam juries and barriers here at UTA, I'm giving myself a well deserved night off to rest, rejuvenate, and revive my creative spirit for the weeks ahead.

In the meantime, since I didn't want to abandon my Monday posting, I invite you to watch the following (amazing!) video. Feel free to watch below, or click HERE to visit it on YouTube.  My husband introduced me to this film and I continue to be in awe of how helpful it is in teaching music students.

After you watch, ask yourself the following questions:
- When do you have Donald Duck brain?
- In what ways would clearing out your mind help you with your practicing, performing, and relationship to music?
- What are you making too complicated that could actually be simple and elegant?

I'd love to hear your reactions to this fabulous video!  Please email me at and tell me about any connections you made or realizations you had after watching (especially concerning the scene where Donald learns how to play pool)!

Happy Practicing!
